Week 1 (Individual Task)
Sharing personal burnout experience

Slides for briefing of Week 1 tasks
Task briefing Slides (Refer to slide 15)
One of my personal burnout that I had was from college. Each semester is hectic with a lot of courses and assignments deadlines to meet. There was one particular semester that was engraved in my mind and truly had a real taste of burnout. It was a long semester before my internship, when a lecturer briefed us about internship and wanting us to search companies for internship. At that time, I had to juggle between heavy weight assignments and securing a company for internship. It was devastating as I can't seem to meet particular deadlines for weeks and none of my emails have been replied by any companies I have sent to.

Luckily, the lecturers were kind enough to guide me through the deadlines and I have also slowly caught up on the pace of the assignments. Eventually, I reached out to a company and luckily I was taken into the company for internship. It was a relief when the interview session finished and knowing that I had been accepted into the company, it was like lifting a few rocks off my shoulders. Finally, the semester ended and so was my burnout.

Week 1 (Group Task)
Research on Burnout

We were tasked to research on Burnout which is the topic for final project. This is so that we will be able to understand more of the topic that we will be doing, instead of just relying too much of the script that will be given. We went on distributing the parts between our groups members to research on particular topics related to burnout:
  • Definition on Burnout
  • What Triggers Burnout
  • Sign of Burnout
  • Consequences of Burnout
  • Stages of burnout
  • The Period of Burnout
  • Recover from Burnout
  • Differentiation of Stress and Burnout
  • How to Prevent Burnout

Week 2:
Burnout Research Results

Task briefing Slides (Refer to slide 16)
Group Research document
We were able to research more information about burnout with the task distribution from last week. Each group members have contributed in researching distributed parts and we got to know more about burnout, how to identify it and many more.
The scripts has yet been distributed to us this week so, the distribution for the scripts will be done by us soon in the upcoming weeks.

Week 3:
Part distributions

Task briefing Slides (Refer to slide 44)
Group part distribution sheet
The script and voiceover files have distributed to us. With the understanding of the topic, we had distributed parts to respective group members. I have been tasked to create motion graphics for the Scene 2 Part 2 of "Contributors to burnout".
With the mentioned files above, we were able to clean the voiceover and added background music to it.

Week 4:
Character design and storyboarding

Task briefing Slides (Refer to slide 21)
Figure 1.0 Character designs
Character Design
These are the characters for the animated infographics, they are the representation of normal and burnout. The yellow character is the one that is normal and live a normal life, another character that is brown on the right is the one that is having a burnout, he looks tired and wore up.
Both characters have design contrast to show the difference between each other. The yellow will look brighter and lively while the brown one will be slouching and felt less energetic with darker worn colors.

Color theme
We have chosen the these colors as the color theme as it is able to blend well with each other, besides the character is yellow in color and brown. Having these colors will be able to have contrast with the yellow and brown.

Figure 2.0 - 6.0 Storyboard for frame 1
I have done the initial storyboard for one of my parts displaying loneliness. The frames showed that the character was all alone searching for his surrounding. Then he was encountered with a friend, he was happy until his friend is gone which makes him went back to his old form, being burnout.

Week 5:
Finalise storyboard and animatics

Week 6:
Vector assets and animation

Figure 17.0 Frame 1 assets
Figure 18.0 Frame 2 assets
Figure 19.0 Frame 3 assets
Vector assets
I have created the vector assets in Adobe Illustrator in different layers so that the assets could be imported into Adobe After Effects. The color themes have been implemented into each frames to ensure consistency and in contrast with the character.

Figure 20.0 Animating Process
Animating assets
Easy Ease In and Out keyframes were inputted for a smoother animation with Motion Blur to make the vectors be more dynamic and swift. Some layers were Pre-Composed for easier control of the whole character with controls.
Figure 21.0 Animating Process 2
The texts in frame 2 has "Wiggle" expression for the Position and Rotation to make it less static in a frame and float about in a different momentum. Masks were also used for the "Depression" word to make it appear as a creature feasting over "Burnout".

Week 7:
Finalise animation
Figure 22.0 Animating Process 3
Null Object was used to scale up the vectorized body of the character that has different layers of body parts and incorporated with Motion Blur to make it have a swift scale up.
"Mental Health" also has "Wiggle" expression for the Rotation to make it it looked like it feel down and was shaking in slight movements.
Figure 23.0 Animating Process 4
I have challenged myself by using 3D Layers to animate a flat character swinging on a swing. I had to tweak with the Positions for X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis. Keyframes were set so that the positions will be recorded and it will be a flat vector move with perspective from front to back on a swing.
Figure 24.0 Animating Process 5
I have made the doors fell down to the ground with some bounce effects to add some life to it by tweaking with the Positions and Rotations of the door. Motion Blur was also inputted onto the character to make it have the swift movements of jumping up in shock.

Feedbacks

Week 4: Character design feedback
The burnout character can have a darker brown color to show more burnout effects.

Week 6: Animation feedback
The spotlight can appear earlier to show the character being alone. The character can start up being small and slowly scale up, character can be converted into vector to not appear as blurry when scaled up. The swinging effects can be more lesser so that it will not appear as distorted. Motion Blur input will need to be consistent for respective frames.

Week 7: Animation feedback
Should zoom in to the brain, pause, and, show the inside image(swing graphic), and then....
Zoom in more, until clean on the swing graphic

Experience
This assignment has been a great experiece for me to work in a team. Each member needed to handle respective parts while communicating with each others. There were multiple communications hurdles along the way but we have managed to get over it.

Observation
I have noticed that motion blur does gave the animation a way more dynamic look. Without it the animation for the vectors will look too flat and static. I have also noticed that colour themes that were near close to neon colors will be more attractive and appealing.

Findings
Overall, I found this assignment to have improved myself in exploring more features in Adobe After Effects. For instance, I have challenged myself to try the 3D Layer for the swing section of the animation. I will need to tweak with the Positions for X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis which is a new thing for me. I have gained more experience in dealing with problems while animating
