Choose video, gather information and ideas
Week 4 (03/02/2023)
Project 1 required the student to choose a video from a YouTube channel, Pasta Granny, on how to prepare and cook ingredients to delicious dish. Then, create an instructable infographic poster to present information for the ingredients and steps to prepare the dish. After that, the information from the poster will be used to animate into an animated instructable infographic, which is also motion graphics that could convey information and instruct the user on the steps to prepare and cook the dish.

The Ingredients and steps
Listed ingredients and steps
I have watched the YouTube video to get the context of the video contents. By watching it, I was able to understand more about the process of creating Schupfnudeln, also known as and listed down the ingredients required as well as the process of making it.
Mood board and inspirations
Color theme
#FFF7E4, #FDF080, #FDC209, #E84344
These will be the core color for the color theme of this project. I would like a faint color to the background so I have chosen Early Dawn (#FFF7E4). Then, Sweet Corn (#FDF080) and Amber (#FDC209) were chosen to go with each other for Schupfnudeln. After that, Cinnabar (#E84344) will be used as the highlight for the design. The colors chosen were mostly warm which will make it mre appetizing for a food poster and if done well can be clean and appealing to the eyes.
Sketch for poster
Figure 7.0, 8.0 Initial and second sketch
When sketching for the poster, I have bore in mind that the instructions in it must be able to conveyed to the viewer and easy to understand. I have also implemented the Chunking method in the poster and chunk them into less than 7 seven information bits for ease viewer. The name of the dish will be on top follow by the comparison between the modern and past topping. Then shows the ingredients and steps for Schupfnudeln.
Progress 2: Week 5
Creating poster design
Creating poster design
Week 5 (09/02/2023)
Figure 9.0 ingredients assets
I started creating assets for the ingredients of Schupfnudeln, making vectors to represent respective ingredients. I also put red color behind the vectors to have contrast to the vector ingredients.
Figure 10.0 masthead for Figure 10.0 masthead for Schupfnudeln
I have also created the masthead for the potato noodle so that it could be used for the header of the poster as well as in the motion graphic in later stages. Mastheads for ingredients and steps to cook were also prepared so that there will be consistency. German were also included in the mastheads as Schupfnudeln was originated from Germany.
Initial poster outcome
Figure 13.0 Initial poster design
This was the first completed poster design outcome. I tried to use back the ingredients panel as in the sketch but it does not seem to work out the way I wanted it to look, so I changed it to an easier layout for easier readability.
Instructions were down below, with the Amber color circle behind the vector to emphasize on the actions and make it stand out more. The a paper texture was also left behind to contrast the flat dimension of the vector elements of the poster.
Progress 3: Week 6
Finalize poster, start motion graphic
Finalize poster, start motion graphic
After receiving feedbacks from the lecturer, some alterations were made towards the ingredients section. Amendments were made to emphasize on the quantity for the preparation of the ingredients. Clear labelled quantity will saved up the viewers time and allowing more information to be chunked into the mind with lesser time.

Background music for motion graphics
Vector Preparation 1
I started arranging the vectors that I have created to match with the dimension of the motion graphic video. I have also make sure that my vectors were in layers so that I can animate them easier in Adobe After Effects.
Progress 4: Week 7
Animating vectors and finalizing

Easy ease in and out were used for throughout the animation same goes to Motion Blur so that it will look more dynamic instead of a flat vector. Besides, I have also tried using Null objects and Adjustment Layers to get consistent animations for respective vectors. A ellipse path was also used in letting the handle for the hand cooking miller to rotate according to the ellipse's path.

Final Outcome
Feedbacks
Week 6: Poster feedback
I think it looks good, very straightforward.
One thing though, there's a lot of unused and potential negative (empty) space. could we enlarge some of the image/icon and also can resize the font and put emphasis on the quality or quantity. such as, time or volume or weight etc. You can make the font slightly bigger and bold.
Week 6: Poster amendments feedback
Looks good, big improvement.
Week 7: Motion Graphic feedback
Nicely done! Its good to go.
Experience
This assignment has let me experience the process of transforming a poster to a motion graphic. This was the first experience for me to be making vector assets for poster and transferring them to make motion graphic. I also needed to arrange my own time to be able to keep with the deadlines of the assignment for regular updates.
Observation
In this assignment I have made research that enabled me to know more about food posters and infographics. I also get to observe the layout of the posters that used chunking methods to allow users to skim through information easier.
Findings
I have also learn more about Null Objects to input repetitive keyframes for respective vectors in the same frame. This could save me a lot of time from inputting the same movements to different vectors in the same frame and make unnecessary adjustments.
