Week 1 (12/01/2023)
This week, we were tasked to research for the art direction and some kinetic typography reference video to aid our brain storm and formation of ideas
Reference 1.0 This video has demonstrated the use of different fonts and presented with interesting motions to the typography, very inspiring video.

Reference 2.0 This video has shown potential decorative font that will be in our kinetic typography video.

Reference 3.0 This video has shown the simple kinetic typography technics that could be in the video.

Week 2 (19/01/2023)
Document of task delegation
This week, our group starts the splitting of lyrics within the group. The song was split into a a few parts between the seven of us which were, Verse 1 (a), Verse 1 (b), Chorus, Verse 2 (a), Verse 2 (b), Bridge and Outro. I am responsible of the Chorus and Outro since the lyrics were the repeating.
Figure 1.0 Storyboard sketch of the Chorus part
A few parts were sketched for the Chorus part. The first frame shows the "In this" coming into the frame from left and right respectively. The second frame shows "World" being warp into a globe shape zooming into the frame with "In this" scaling down to nothing.
Then the third frame, "It's just" came into the frame from below and then the forth frame, the "Us" came into the frame and knock of the "It's just", making them fall off the top to the bottom. After that, the fifth frame, "You know it's not" will be coming from multiple direction with the null object rotating the frame.
Then, the sixth frame, "The same" will be moving up and the "Same" be growing bigger in the frame. Lastly, "As it was" will be seventh frame, it will be like random number generator that generate before showing "As it was".

Week 3 (26/01/2023)
Figure 2.0 Screenshot of process from frame 1
This is the first frame, which I have tweaked with the Graph Editor so that I could make the movements smoother and according to movements that I wanted. I ended up making the words have bounce effects so that they could show a bump to each other effects.
Figure 2.1 Screenshot of process from frame 2
This is the second frame, I have warp the text "World" into a round shape like a globe in Adobe Illustrator. I also made sure to turn on the 3D layer on a Null object that is the parent for this word so that could it could be seen as if it is zooming into the screen and I can make further adjustments.
Figure 2.2 Screenshot of process from frame 5
This is the fifth frame, which was an altered version from the storyboard as I think that I am not happy with the null object rotating idea that I had. Which is why I decided to change it to another animation idea. A 3D layer was also inputted to a Null Object and was parents to the words "You know". I have adjusted the position of it using the XYZ-axis so that it could have a 3D rotation look.
Figure 2.3 Screenshot of process from frame 6
This is the sixth frame which was also an altered version from the storyboard as mentioned. I have used Alpha inverted matte to make the text separation effect.
Figure 2.4 Screenshot of process from frame 7
This is the seventh frame showing "The same", "The" was scaled down while "Same" was upscaled to have a contrast between the words. 3D layer was applied to "The" to make it look like it was moving to the back and become further from the screen.

The Outcome for Chorus part (26/01/2023)

Week 4 (02/02/2023)
Figure 2.5-2.7 Screenshot of process from frame after the Bridge part
I have also taken on the role to make create the frames after the Bridge part as it is just with background music. There was bell sounds in that part, which is why I inserted the bell into this scene as a filler. Texture were also inputted onto the bell so that it does not look too flat.

Week 3 tasks briefing Slides

Week 3 (02/02/2023)
This week's exercise is about making different types of animation charts, Pie Chart, Bar Chart and Line Graph using Adobe After Effects. I was tasked to create a Bar Chart, the topic will be about the "Student sources of stress", I was required to use the data provided by the site and integrate into my animation chart.

Figure 3.1 Keyframe of X-axis and Y-axis lines
I created the X-axis and Y-axis lines for the chart, as well as the lines for the measurement of the percentage (darker gray as it is just a minor guideline). Trim path keyframes were inputted into the lines for a clean intro of the lines during the start of the animation with Easy ease in and out.

Figure 3.2 Keyframe of data and information
The percentage of the stress (Y-axis) and the source of stress (X-axis) were inputted into the chart. Opacity keyframes were inputted to show the data information accordingly.

Figure 3.3 Keyframe of bars
The bars were made with strokes and filled with shades of red to indicate the intensity of stress percentage. Trim path keyframes were inputted into the bars so that they were able to rise up and down accordingly. Easy ease in and out were used for a smoother animation.

Figure 3.4 Keyframe of percentages
Percentages of the stress were labelled below the bars so that viewers can view the results quicker without browsing through the lines to calculate the percentages. Opacity keyframes were inputted to let the percentages appear accordingly.

Final Outcome
Figure 4.5 Final outcome of animation chart
The final outcome looks like the .GIF file above. The X-axis and Y-axis will be the lead to reveal the data and information, follow by the bar and percentages. The title of the chart was also labelled on top for clearer justification of the purpose of the chart.

Exercise 5:
Character Animation
Week 4: Individual Task

Week 4 tasks briefing Slides (Refer to slide 21)

Week 4 (26/01/2023)
This week's exercise is about creating vector animation towards the vector that were provided to us. I was delegated to create the vector C which is a landscape with wind turbine and mountains. One of the criteria for this exercise is to include, Animation: Position, scale, rotation (Bounce Effect), Motion Blur, Easy Ease and Wiggle or the Puppet position pin tool. I was able to fulfill the criteria and chosen the Wiggle Expression.

Figure 4.1 Keyframe of the Position and Scale of the sun
Scale keyframes were inputted to make the sun scale up as it was coming into the composition. The Position keyframes were also inputted with Easy Ease to smoothen the motion. Motion Blur was also applied to make the vector motion looked more realistic.

Figure 4.2 Trim path the River
The River was inputted with Trim Path to make the soil coming into the composition and the water flowing out of the stream. Ease In and Out were inputted for a smoother animation.

Figure 4.3 Wiggle Expression Wind turbine
Wiggle Expression was inputted into the Wind turbine. I keyed in the value of (0.1,360) to make adjustments towards the Frequency and Amplitude respectively. The path for the shadow of the Wind turbine was also adjusted to follow the opposite movement of the sun to make it more realistic.

Figure 4.4 Other Vector animations
Other than that, mountain, trees and clouds were animated with position that bounce. The path of the shadows were also adjusted bit by bit for realistic sun path.

Final Outcome
Figure 4.5 Final Outcome of Vector animations
The final outcome is as how .GIF file looks. The vector animation were made to start accordingly with the shadow complementing the movement of the sun to make it look more realistic.

Experience
These tasks have allowed me to experience more on Adobe After Effects and the capabilities of the program to produce motion graphics that able to convey information. I have also experienced in working in a group to complete parts that were distributed to me among the group members.

Observation
I have noticed that it was important to follow the tempo of the music for motion graphics especially for kinetic typography. It is because tempo is the nature instinct of humans and we get to detect it involuntarily. Which is why it is important to make the animation follow the tempo of the music to match it well.

Findings
With these projects I have found out the "Wiggle" expression to be a fun tool to use and sometimes might even save time for motion graphics. The expression was able to let the vectors to wiggle in terms of random Positions and Rotations based on the frequency and magnitude inputted. I have also found out ways to animate vector with paths by inputting keyframes.
